What Sporta does with one photo

  • AI card identification

    Reads the card like a dealer would: player, year, brand and set, card number, parallel, serial numbering, rookie status, autograph and memorabilia.

  • Front and back scanning

    The back carries the set, card number and copyright year, so two photos give a stronger match. Sleeves, top loaders and slabs can stay on.

  • Market value from recent sales

    An estimated value from recent verified sales of the matched card, with its weekly and 30-day change. Market data refreshes throughout the day.

  • AI condition pre-grade

    A 0 to 10 pre-grade with centering, corners, edges and surface. Estimated pre-grade from photo analysis. Not an official grade.

  • Prices by grade and recent sales

    What the card sells for raw and at different grades, plus the sold comps behind the number, each with its grade and date.

  • Price history you can scrub

    Drag along the price history to step through individual sales and see which way the card has been moving.

What the AI grade is, and what it isn't

Sporta looks at your photos and scores four things graders care about. The result is an estimate from a photo, useful for sorting a stack and spotting obvious flaws. It is not an official grade, and no grading company is involved.

Centering
How evenly the image sits between the borders, left to right and top to bottom.
Corners
Whether all four corners are sharp, or show rounding, dings or fraying.
Edges
Chipping, whitening or roughness along the four sides, often clearest on dark borders.
Surface
Scratches, print lines, dimples, stains or creases across the front and back.

Professional grading makes sense when a card is valuable enough, and clean enough, that a graded copy should sell for clearly more than a raw one after costs, or when you want it authenticated and sealed. Frequently asked questions

How do I find out what my sports card is worth?

Identify the exact card (year, set, card number and parallel), judge its condition honestly, then look at what the same card in the same condition recently sold for. Sporta handles the identification and the sales research from a photo: it shows an estimated value from recent sales, prices by grade and the recent sold comps. Treat the number as an estimate, not an appraisal.

How does Sporta identify a card?

You photograph the front, and optionally the back. The AI reads the printed text much like OCR (player, year, brand and set, card number, parallel, serial numbering, rookie flag, autograph and memorabilia), then matches the card to a large catalog of real sports cards with sales data. If the match is uncertain, it shows a Similar Match with a match percentage and asks you to confirm.

Is the AI grade the same as a PSA grade?

No. Sporta's AI grade is an estimated pre-grade from photo analysis, not an official grade. It rates centering, corners, edges and surface from your photos to help you decide which cards deserve a closer look. Only a grading company such as PSA, BGS or SGC can issue an official grade, after inspecting the card in hand.

Which sports does Sporta support?

Baseball, basketball, football, soccer and hockey cards, from vintage issues to modern parallels and numbered cards.

Does it work for Pokémon or other trading card games?

No. Sporta is built for sports cards only. Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and other trading card games are not supported.

Does Sporta work on Android?

No. Sporta is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store and needs iOS 26.0 or iPadOS 26.0 or later. There is no Android version and no web app.

Is Sporta free?

Sporta is free to download. Further use is available through in-app purchases, shown inside the app. Purchases are handled by Apple, and you can restore them from Settings in the app.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You sign in with Apple or Google. Your Vault is tied to that account and synced to the cloud, so your collection follows you to a new iPhone or iPad.

What happens to my card photos?

Photos are sent over an authenticated connection to Sporta's cloud service and analysed by Google's Gemini AI to identify and pre-grade the card. When you add a card to your Vault, compressed copies of its front and back photos are stored with your account so the Vault shows your actual card. Recent scans are cached on your device. Deleting your account deletes the account and its collection.

How do I cancel a subscription or delete my account?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel Sporta there. To delete your account, open Profile in the app and tap Delete Account; it permanently deletes your account and collection and cannot be undone. Deleting the app alone does not cancel a subscription.
